We had a fabulous opportunity to get up close and personal with some horses thanks to our good friend Teresa. A group she belongs to had set up a field trip and I jumped right on it. Ella has been asking for a few months now to take horseback riding lessons. This was a perfect "get your feet wet" kind of experience.
A really nice family allowed a group of kids to come to her farm and learn about horses; how to care for them, how much they cost (both purchasing them and caring for them), how to "talk" to them, and of course, how to ride them.
Here they are watching her work with the horse, showing us how she "talks" to her using her body language and "energy". It was really neat.
We learned that when buying a horse for your child the best way to find the right age horse is to have the horse age and your child's age equal 20. So right now we would buy Ella a 13 year old horse. (7 +13=20) I found that to be very informative.

After this they were each able to ride the horses. Of course my camera battery died. :(
This field trip was a great experience for all of us. We may or may not be getting her lessons, that has yet to be decided. :-)
This event though marked the end of the school year for us!
